Redknowe was built in 1876 and is a solid red stone house on the edge of Campbeltown overlooking farmland. As we are about 5 minutes walk from the town centre it is very peaceful and quiet.
There are two golf courses in the area:-
Machrihanish Golf Club is a 5 minute drive away and is a links course overlooking the Atlantic Ocean towards Ireland and the islands of Islay and Jura. Dunaverty Golf Club is a 20 minute drive away and again is a links course overlooking the sea to Ireland and the Ayrshire coastline.
The Mull of Kintyre is at the end of the peninsula and is quite spectacular. You can walk down to the lighthouse and on a clear day can see the houses on the shoreline in Ireland.
The whole area is a haven for wildlife. Lots of migrating birds, all sorts of waterfowl, deer, otters, seals and if you are lucky you may even spot a Golden Eagle soaring or a school of dolphins playing in the surf
There are lots of beaches to explore and you could be here for a fortnight and go to a different one every day.
A walk across to Davaar Island at low tide is another great experience, as is climbing up Ben Ghuilean (Hill of the Shoulders). The view from the top is amazing, accompanied with sea, sand, hills and Glens there is plenty to keep you active.
Campbeltown is also a great place to explore with plenty of places to go. We have cafes and restaurants, swimming pool, museum, heritage centre, an owl centre with daily flying shows, and the oldest cinema in Scotland. How about a tour of the whisky distilleries? A ride across the sea on a rib? Or a trip on a boat to Sanda Island , and lots more.
There are no McDonalds or KFCs,no amusement arcades, just good clean fun for every-one.
To get here you can fly from Glasgow twice daily in 30 minutes, or drive down the the outstandingly beautiful scenic road through mountains and along the shores of lochs and seas ,which I believe is part of your holiday.
